PART 2 THE THIRD DAUGHTER — THE SECRET THEY HID FROM ME FOR SIX YEARS

I thought throwing her into that bathtub would finally make the nightmare stop.

I was wrong.

The moment I turned toward my daughters, I saw my maid standing frozen in the doorway.

She wasn’t looking at the woman in the bathtub.

She was looking at me.

Her face was completely pale.

One hand was trembling behind her back.

“Give me whatever you’re holding,” I said.

She didn’t move.

My daughters were still wrapped around my legs, crying.

I lowered my voice.

“Please. Whatever it is… give it to me.”

The maid slowly brought her hand forward.

She was holding a small black device.

At first, I thought it was a phone.

Then I realized what it was.

A hidden camera.

My stomach dropped.

I looked at the woman in the bathtub.

Her expression changed instantly.

The tears disappeared.

The fear disappeared.

For the first time, I saw the real person hiding behind all those emotions.

“Where did you get that?” she demanded.

The maid looked at me.

“I found it three weeks ago.”

Three weeks.

Those words hit me harder than anything else that night.

Three weeks.

She had known.

She had been watching.

And I hadn’t noticed anything.

I took the device from her hand.

“Where was it?”

The maid pointed toward the bathroom ceiling.

I looked up.

There was a tiny black mark near the ventilation panel.

I suddenly felt sick.

I realized the camera hadn’t been there for one night.

It had been there for weeks.

Maybe longer.

I looked at my daughters.

They were six years old.

They trusted the adults around them.

They trusted me to protect them.

And while I was away working, someone had been watching them.

I turned back toward the woman.

“Why?”

She said nothing.

“Why were you filming my children?”

Still nothing.

Then she laughed.

It wasn’t a nervous laugh.

It was cold.

Calculated.

Almost amused.

“You really want to know?”

I took a step toward her.

She raised her hand.

“Don’t.”

Something about her voice stopped me.

She wasn’t afraid anymore.

“I didn’t put that camera there for the girls.”

I stared at her.

“Then who was it for?”

She smiled.

“You.”

My heart stopped.

“What?”

She slowly climbed out of the bathtub, water dripping from her robe onto the marble floor.

“You think tonight was about your daughters?”

She shook her head.

“It was always about you.”

I didn’t understand.

Then she looked toward the maid.

“And she knows.”

The maid lowered her eyes.

I looked at her.

“What does she mean?”

The maid started crying.

“I didn’t want to tell you.”

“Tell me what?”

She hesitated.

Then she whispered:

“She came here because of your family.”

My blood ran cold.

“What does that mean?”

The maid looked directly at me.

“She knew your name before she ever met you.”

Silence filled the bathroom.

I stared at the woman.

She didn’t deny it.

Instead, she smiled.

That smile told me everything.

This wasn’t an argument between two adults.

This wasn’t some sudden act of jealousy.

This had been planned.

For a long time.

I grabbed my phone and called the police.

The woman didn’t even try to stop me.

She just stood there watching.

Almost as if she knew something I didn’t.

Then my phone rang.

Unknown number.

I answered.

A man’s voice spoke on the other end.

“You need to leave that house.”

I froze.

“Who is this?”

“You don’t understand what’s happening.”

“Who are you?”

The man paused.

Then he said my full name.

My blood turned to ice.

I looked around the bathroom.

“How do you know me?”

“Because I’ve been watching too.”

The call ended.

I stared at my phone.

My daughters were crying.

The maid was shaking.

And the woman was smiling.

I suddenly realized the hidden camera wasn’t the real danger.

Someone else had access to it.

Someone else had been watching everything.

I rushed downstairs with my daughters and locked the front door.

The maid followed me.

“Where are you going?” I asked.

“Anywhere away from here.”

I opened the front door.

Then stopped.

There were two black cars parked across the street.

I couldn’t see who was inside.

My instincts screamed at me to get back inside.

I slammed the door shut.

A few seconds later, headlights turned on.

One car slowly moved toward the house.

Then stopped.

No one got out.

The woman came down the stairs.

She was strangely calm.

“You finally understand,” she said.

“Understand what?”

“That you were never the target.”

I looked at her.

She continued.

“Your daughters were.”

I felt rage rising inside me.

“You’re lying.”

She shook her head.

“No.”

Then she said something that made my entire body go numb.

“They aren’t your only children.”

I couldn’t breathe.

“What did you say?”

She reached into the pocket of her robe and pulled out a photograph.

She dropped it on the floor.

I picked it up.

It was an old photograph.

A woman.

A hospital.

And a newborn baby.

On the back was a date.

A date from six years ago.

The exact year my daughters were born.

I looked at her.

“What is this?”

She stared at me.

“Your daughters weren’t supposed to survive.”

I felt like the floor disappeared beneath my feet.

“What are you talking about?”

The maid suddenly covered her mouth.

I looked at her.

“You knew.”

She began crying.

“I was there.”

My hands started shaking.

“You were there?”

She nodded.

“At the hospital.”

Everything suddenly became a blur.

The woman stepped closer.

“You were told your wife gave birth to twins.”

I stared at her.

“Yes.”

“You were wrong.”

My heart was pounding.

“What are you saying?”

She looked at my daughters.

“There were three babies.”

I couldn’t speak.

Three.

Not two.

Three.

The room became completely silent.

The woman whispered:

“One of them disappeared.”

My knees nearly gave out.

I looked at my daughters.

Then at the photograph.

Then back at her.

“Where is the third child?”

She didn’t answer.

Instead, she pulled out another photograph.

This one showed a little girl.

Blonde hair.

Blue eyes.

Six years old.

She looked almost exactly like my daughters.

My hands went numb.

“Who is she?”

The woman looked directly into my eyes.

“She is your daughter.”

I couldn’t breathe.

The maid began sobbing.

I turned toward her.

“Tell me this isn’t true.”

She couldn’t look at me.

That was when I understood.

The woman hadn’t entered my house to hurt my daughters.

She had entered my house because she knew the truth about a child I had never known existed.

The hidden camera.

The lighter.

The lies.

Everything had been part of something much bigger.

I looked at the woman again.

“Where is she?”

For the first time, the smile disappeared from her face.

“She is alive.”

“Where?”

She stepped closer.

“Not for long.”

My heart shattered.

“What does that mean?”

She looked toward the window.

The black cars were still outside.

“They’re coming.”

“Who?”

She whispered one final word.

“Your family.”

Then the lights in the entire house went out.

My daughters screamed.

I pulled them against me.

The sound of footsteps came from downstairs.

Slow.

Heavy.

Getting closer.

I reached for my phone.

No signal.

The maid grabbed my arm.

“Don’t go downstairs.”

Then we heard the front door open.

Someone had entered.

I held my daughters tighter.

And suddenly, a voice echoed through the darkness.

“Come out.”

I recognized it.

It was the voice from the phone.

The man who had warned me.

The woman beside me whispered:

“It’s too late.”

I looked at her.

“Who is he?”

She looked terrified for the first time.

“My brother.”

The footsteps stopped.

A flashlight appeared at the bottom of the stairs.

Then a man slowly walked into the light.

I recognized him immediately.

He was holding the same photograph.

He looked at my daughters.

Then he looked at me.

And said:

“You’ve spent six years raising two girls.”

He lifted the photograph.

“But you were supposed to raise three.”

I couldn’t move.

Then he looked toward the woman.

“You failed.”

She began crying.

And suddenly I realized something.

She wasn’t the mastermind.

She wasn’t even the person in control.

She had been working for someone else.

Someone who had been watching my family for six years.

Someone who knew about the third baby.

Someone who had been waiting for the right moment.

The man stepped forward.

And then my daughter whispered something that made everyone freeze.

“Daddy…”

I looked down.

She was pointing toward the photograph.

Her tiny finger was shaking.

“That girl…”

I crouched beside her.

“What about her?”

My daughter stared at the photograph.

Then she whispered:

“I know her.”

My heart stopped.

“How?”

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes.

“Because she comes to my room when you’re not home.”

Silence.

Absolute silence.

I looked at the woman.

Then at the maid.

Then at the man.

Nobody spoke.

My daughter continued:

“She told me not to tell you.”

The room went cold.

I suddenly understood.

The mysterious third girl wasn’t somewhere far away.

She had already been inside my house.

She had been coming to my daughter’s room.

And someone had been letting her in.

I looked at the maid.

She was crying.

Then she whispered:

“I thought you knew.”

My voice broke.

“Knew what?”

She pointed toward the hallway.

“The room at the end.”

I had never opened that room.

It had always been locked.

I walked toward it slowly.

The woman screamed behind me.

“DON’T OPEN THAT DOOR!”

I stopped.

Then I turned around.

“Why?”

She said nothing.

I reached for the handle.

And opened it.

Inside was a small bedroom.

A bed.

A nightstand.

Photographs covering the walls.

Hundreds of them.

Photographs of my daughters.

Photographs of me.

Photographs of our family.

And in the center of the room…

was a framed picture of the third girl.

Underneath it was a handwritten name.

My daughter’s name.

Not a different name.

Not a stranger’s name.

The same name.

The exact same name.

I stepped backward in horror.

Then I saw one final photograph.

It was taken six years ago.

Three newborn babies were lying beside each other.

And standing behind them was my wife.

But there was something written across the photograph.

Four words.

“ONE OF THEM IS MISSING.”

I finally understood the truth.

The woman hadn’t come into my life by accident.

The hidden camera wasn’t meant to expose her.

It was meant to expose me.

Someone had been waiting for me to discover the truth.

And the worst part?

My daughters weren’t the victims of the plan.

They were the evidence.

I looked at the two little girls holding my hands.

Then I looked at the photograph of the third child.

And I finally realized why she looked so familiar.

Because she wasn’t just their sister.

She was my firstborn.

And she had been living in the same house…

without me ever knowing.

That night, I promised my daughters one thing.

I would find her.

No matter who was behind it.

No matter how deep the secret went.

No matter what it cost me.

Because I had already lost six years.

I wasn’t going to lose another day.

And as I walked out of that house with my daughters in my arms…

my phone suddenly received one final message.

A photograph.

It showed my missing daughter.

Alive.

Standing in a dark room.

And beneath the photograph were six words that made my blood run cold:

“DADDY, PLEASE COME FIND ME.”

I stared at the screen.

Then I realized something even worse.

The photograph had been taken…

inside my house.
